Last tribute to Sambandhan’s Bhutaudal yesterday in Parliament

Trincomalee District Member of Parliament Amarar Ira Sampanthan’s body was brought to Parliament yesterday and tributes were paid. At 2.00 pm yesterday, Anna’s body was brought to the Parliament building and a red carpet was laid from the front door of the Parliament to the audience hall where his body was kept. A group of parliamentarians led by Speaker Mahinda Yappa Abeywardena and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena took charge of his funeral procession from the front door of Parliament.

After that the Speaker, Prime Minister, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and foreign ambassadors also paid their last respects to Buddha Woodal of Annan by placing floral wreaths. The Parliament complex area looked somber yesterday as white flags were flown.

Ministers such as Sushil Prema Jayantha, Mahinda Amaraweera, Jeevan Thondaman, State Ministers, Members of Parliament, Provincial Governors, former Members of Parliament, Parliamentary Secretary General and other high officials of the Parliament paid their respects to Annarin Bhutaudal. Also, the Prime Minister, Speaker, Ministers, Members of Parliament and Foreign Ambassadors also signed the memorial register kept there.

After this, at 3.30 pm, his body was again handed over to the police by the Speaker and the Prime Minister. Later, they carried the procession to the Parliament gate and loaded it back into the vehicle.
