Late Nagai Member of Parliament M. Selvaraj was cremated with state honors with 21 gunshots.
He belongs to Chittamalli next to Muthuppet in Tiruvarur district. He served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of India and a four-time member of the Lok Sabha.
M. Selvaraj, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai due to ill health, passed away last night.
The body was taken from Chennai to his hometown Thiruvarur Chittamalli, DMK MP TR Balu, Tirupur MP. Subparayan, Nagai Constituency Communist Party of India candidate Y. Selvaraj and others paid their respects.
Also Communist Party members from various movements and public gathered to pay respects to his body in the pouring rain.
Following this, in the funeral procession from his house to the garden, Indian Communist State Secretary Mutharasan, DMK MP. Many people including DR Balu participated.
After the funeral, Selvaraj’s body was buried in the garden there. At that time, 21 gunshots were fired on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government.
