There is a chance of rain or thundershowers at some places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.
There is a possibility of strong wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour from time to time in the western slopes of the central highlands and in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces and Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monarakala districts.
70-80 km per hour due to active South West Monsoon conditions in the Arabian Sea region especially in North latitudes 07N – 20N and East latitudes 55E – 68E. The Department of Meteorology has predicted that the speed will be very strong and the sea will be very rough.
Therefore, it is advised not to engage in fishing and fisheries related activities within the said area till re-notification.
The department also said that the fishermen in the area should immediately move to the safe sea area.
