Maruti’s CNG Cars:
Maruti sells the CNG models of Dzire, Alto, Ertiga, WagonR, Celerio, Eco, S-Presso and Brezza through their Arena showrooms in India.
Also, the company is selling CNG models of Franks, Belino, Grand Vitara and XL6 through their Nexa showrooms.
Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG:
Last May, Maruti launched the new Swift model for 2024 which was updated with a new engine. Now it seems that the company is going to launch a CNG variant based on that model.
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is powered by a three-cylinder 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that produces 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque.
Power and torque levels of this engine may decrease when running on CNG fuel. The Swift is offered with a choice of 5-speed manual and AMT automatic gearboxes.
However, if the Swift CNG model is launched, Maruti is expected to offer only a manual gearbox option.
It is to be noted that while the petrol variant of the Swift returns a mileage of approximately 25 kmpl, its CNG variant is claimed to deliver a mileage of up to 32 kmpl.
New CNG Car Price:
Always compare the cost of a fuel car with a CNG car costing slightly more. This price increase is due to the inclusion of a CNG kit with the particular fuel model.
If Maruti launches the CNG model of the Swift, it is expected that the price of the CNG model will be Rs.90,000 to Rs.95,000 more than the price of the variant with which the Swift CNG model will be released.
Twin Cylinder Technology:
The CNG car models sold by Maruti so far use only one CNG cylinder technology.
Due to this, most of the boot space is spent on keeping the CNG cylinder, leaving us with insufficient space for our luggage.
This problem has also occurred in CNG models from other companies. To solve this, Tata started using two smaller CNG cylinders instead of one big CNG cylinder.
Thus, we got a considerable amount of boot space. It is expected that this twin cylinder technology will be used in Maruti’s upcoming CNG car as well. So, we can expect boot space issue to be no more.
Maruti also focusing more on CNG cars:
Maruti had sold 4.5 lakh CNG cars in the last financial year. Tata, another Indian company, sold 91,000 CNG cars.
Maruti has set a target of increasing this sales volume by 30% this year. That is, Maruti has set a target of selling 6 lakh CNG cars and exporting 3 lakh CNG cars in this financial year 2024-25.
Apart from fuel cars, Maruti is focusing more on CNG cars as well. The newly launched CNG car is expected to help Maruti achieve its target.
