Jaya Shankar said that the speedy resumption of the development projects started in Sri Lanka with Indian investment and stopped in the middle was discussed here and he will soon visit Sri Lanka to examine these activities.
The meeting also discussed India’s policy of putting its neighbors first.
Jaishankar mentioned that the Industrial Zone to be started by the Government of India centered on Trincomalee was also discussed and many Indian investors are going to invest there and it is expected to attract investors from other countries to invest in this industrial zone.
Commenting on the meeting, President Ranil Wickramasinghe mentioned that through the new Economic Transformation Act, the powers of agriculture, health education and economic management will be given to the provincial councils.
The President also mentioned that the Truth and Reconciliation Act will be submitted to Parliament by July.
The agricultural modernization program implemented in Sri Lanka was also discussed here and attention was paid to reaching a quick resolution to resolve the issues between the fishermen of the two countries.
Ranil Wickramasinghe mentioned that Garden Lion Rooms will be gazetted as Garden Villages and after publication of the relevant gazette, the respective villages can be developed with the intervention of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The President also recalled inviting the Indian Prime Minister to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
