MG Motor is gearing up to launch its new Cloud EV model in India. MG Motor is currently selling two cars in India namely Comet EV and ZS EV. While the Comet EV is being sold under Rs 10 lakh, the ZS EV is being sold at a price of more than Rs 20 lakh. In this case, MG is planning to introduce this new electric car between these two.
MG Motor’s parent company, China’s SAIC, is going to launch an electric car in India called the Cloud, which is sold in Indonesia under the Wulling brand. This model is sold in China under the name Baojan Yunduo.
Earlier, the electric car sold by SAIC Company in Indonesia under the name of Wulling Air was released by MG Motor Company under the name of Comet EV in India. The Cloud EV, which MG is currently testing in India, looks like a mid-size hatchback and an MPV. That means the Cloud EV has two rows of seats, slightly shorter than an MPV.
Overseas, the Cloud EV model is being sold with two battery pack options, 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh. Both these battery pack models have a range of 360 km and 460 km respectively. Both the models are powered by a PMS (permanent magnet synchronous) electric motor capable of producing 134hp. There is no information about which of these two models will be launched in India.
The Cloud EV has an advantage in the lack of electric cars in the MPV segment of the Indian automobile market, despite being slightly shorter in length than the likes of the Kia Garance and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPVs sold in India. This new electric car is expected to be launched in India this year at a price of under Rs.20 lakhs. It is noteworthy that Kia plans to launch the electric version of their Garance model in India in the second half of 2025.
