MK Stalin Order Paddy Procurement incentive increase Farmers Are Happy: Good News for Farmers: Paddy Procurement Price Increase

Chief Minister M.K. said about providing incentives to the farmers along with the reference price for the Kharib 2024-25 paddy procurement season. A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Stalin. Ministers MRK Panneerselvam, Chakrapani, Chief Secretary Sivdas Meena and others participated in it.

It is also mentioned that Tamil Nadu government has decided to open direct rice procurement stations in the 2024-2025 season of Caribbean procurement and purchase rice from farmers under the Union Government’s Decentralized Rice Procurement Scheme.

On June 12 this year, in the context of Mettur Dam being unable to be opened, it was informed that the Chief Minister had ordered the implementation of the Kuruvai Synthesis Project at an estimated cost of Rs.78.67 crore for the benefit of the delta farmers, and the necessary inputs are being provided to the farmers.

Further, “In the interest of farmers, while requesting the Union Government to carry out the purchase of paddy for the Carib 2024-2025 season from September 1, the Union Government has approved to carry out the purchase of paddy for the Carib 2024-2025 season in Tamil Nadu on the same date. The Union Government has fixed Rs.2,300 per quintal for normal paddy and Rs.2,320 per quintal for light paddy as the minimum reference price for the 2024-2025 Carib season.
Also, “In this context, to increase the production of rice in Tamil Nadu and to encourage the farmers, for the 2024-2025 Caribbean procurement season, provide an additional incentive of Rs. 105 per quintal of normal rice and Rs. 130 per quintal of fine rice from the funds of the Government of Tamil Nadu. 2,405 per quintal and Rs 2,450 per quintal of light paddy, the Chief Minister has ordered to purchase from direct paddy procurement stations.

This new minimum resource price and state government incentives will come into effect from September 1. Also, as promised in the election manifesto, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has issued an order to provide Rs.2,500 per quintal of light paddy to the farmers at the direct paddy procurement stations in the next fiscal year 2025-26.

The rise in the purchase price of paddy has caused great joy among the farmers of Tamil Nadu.
