More than 1,000 Haj pilgrims died in Mecca… Fierce heat waves!

Haj pilgrims suffer

The current temperature is 49 degrees Celsius. It is worth noting that that means 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Especially last Monday, the temperature of 51.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in the Grand Mosque and it was suffocating.

The study results show that the temperature in Mecca is gradually increasing by 0.4 degrees every year. It has been reported that more than 1,000 Haj pilgrims have died due to extreme heat in the last few weeks.

Thousands of casualties

It is reported that 658 of them are from Egypt. 90 Haj pilgrims have died due to heatstroke in India. Apart from this, passengers from countries including Jordan, Indonesia, Iran, Senegal and Tunisia have also become victims.

Hajj management request

In this case, the Hajj administration has requested the pilgrims visiting Mecca to bring an umbrella without fail. They have also asked them to drink enough water to ensure that they do not become dehydrated.

Medical teams on standby

A large number of medical teams have been deployed in Mecca to help the affected travelers. 30 members of the Rapid Response Force are also providing medical aid to heat stroke victims.
