Negotiations for another treaty are underway

Council chief and minister Sushil Prema Jayantha said in Parliament that while two agreements have been signed regarding debt restructuring, one more agreement is being negotiated.

The Minister said this while replying to a question raised by Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa in Parliament yesterday.

The minister said further in this regard,

In his special address, the President clarified in the House that the agenda should be prepared today or tomorrow and the debt restructuring agreement.

There is no need to inform this House again about it.

In this regard, two agreements have been signed and another agreement is being negotiated with the relevant authorities.

He said that after the completion of the talks, an agenda will be prepared along with the information of the concerned department.

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa in his question;

The government says only two agreements have been signed on debt restructuring. And so it has been brought under the agenda of Parliament without a further agreement being secured.

He also said that it was illegal to do so.
