Complaints were raised that Nirmala Devi, who was working as a professor in a private college in Aruppukkottai, Virudhunagar district, had misled the students. Following this complaint, the police registered a case against Nirmala Devi in 2018 and arrested her.
Madurai University assistant professor Murugan and research student Karuppasamy were arrested in connection with the case of trying to mislead college girls. A related case was pending in the District Women’s Court at Srivilliputhur.
The CBCID officials who were investigating the case had also filed a charge sheet against Nirmala Devi, Murugan and Karuppasamy. Therefore, it was informed that the judgment will be announced today after investigations have been conducted and statements received in this case which has been going on for about 6 years.
Accordingly, former professor Nirmala Devi, Murugan and Karuppasamy appeared at Srivilliputhur Women’s Court. The three men, who have been in jail for a long time, are now out on bail and were ordered to appear in court today.
In this situation, the Srivilliputhur Women’s Court has acquitted Professor Murugan and Karuppasamy, who were accused in the Nirmala Devi case of trying to mislead college students. It has also been announced that Nirmala has been found guilty in the case of misleading the students.
