OPS went to the High Court against the results of the Lok Sabha elections.

O Panneerselvam

Chennai: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) party candidate Nawaz Ghani won the Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Just like the 2019 elections, Nawaz Ghani had won this time too. 5,09,664 votes were recorded in his favor. Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who contested as an independent from the BJP-led NDA alliance, secured 3,42,882 votes. With this, OPS lost to Nawaz Gani by a margin of about 1.66 lakh votes.

In this case, O. Panneerselvam has filed a case in the Madras High Court against Nawaz Gani’s victory in Ramanathapuram. O. Panneerselvam has mentioned in the case that Nawaz Gani did not properly mention his assets in the election affidavit and hence his victory is declared invalid.

Information about the next steps, such as whether the case has been accepted for trial in the Madras High Court, is yet to be released.
