Chavku Shankar, the editor of Chavku website, was arrested by the Coimbatore Cybercrime Police on the morning of May 04 for defaming police officers and female police officers. After this, Chavku Shankar was arrested by the Coimbatore police and taken away. Meanwhile, in the presence of the Innova car which they came in, on the secret information that narcotics, including banned ganja, were being smuggled, 409 grams of ganja and 15,500 rupees were seized during a search in the presence of Theni District Collector Rani.
Also, during the search conducted in the room where they were staying, Rs 54,130 in cash and bank ATM cards were seized. In this connection, Chavku Shankar and his assistants Ram Prabhu and Rajaratnam were booked under IPC 294 (b), 353 and TN Women Harassment Prohibition Act 4, NDPS Act 8. (C), 20(b)(II)(A), 29(1), 25 have been booked under 7 sections including prevention of public service, Prevention of Violence against Women Act and drug trafficking. .
The police, led by Theni District Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Vivekanandan, interrogated two of Chavku Shankar’s aides, Ram Prabhu and Rajaratnam. They were then produced before the judge and lodged in Periyakulam branch jail.
In this situation, the Theni police are conducting an active search at the house of Chavku Shankar in Maduravayal, Chennai. Theni police have arrested Chavik Sankara in the ganja case and intensive search is going on at his house. Five inspectors and policemen have been searching the house of Chavku Shankar since morning.
