Lakshmanan from Madurai, who served as an army soldier in Kashmir, died a heroic death in 2022 while on duty. His body was flown to Madurai. Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan paid respects to Lakshmanan’s body at Madurai Airport and was returning in his car.

At that time, some BJP members threw a shoe at Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan’s car and created a stir. They also raised slogans against PDR. The police had registered a case against more than 10 people in connection with this incident and had arrested some of them.

Petition to the High Court

In this situation, 12 people including Venkai Maran, Manikandan, Thanalakshmi and Manickam from BJP filed a petition in the Madurai branch of the High Court demanding the cancellation of the case filed against them in the matter of throwing slippers on the PDR car. The case came up for hearing today before Justice Bhujahendi.

The judge is stern

It was informed that the Tamil Nadu government should not cancel the case. The judge then said, “Throwing slippers when a minister is traveling, especially when his vehicle is carrying the national flag, is an act of disrespect to the national flag. Apart from that, you have insulted the minister and raised slogans in a very disgusting manner,” he said.

Order to meet the case

Also, government vehicles were damaged. How can this case be canceled in such circumstances? Questioning the judge, the judge said, “It would be correct to hear this case properly in the trial court. Subsequently, he adjourned the trial.
