The first thing that comes to mind when people think of Royal Enfield is its classic 350 model. Many prefer the Classic 350 model as it is a bike suitable for daily use and at the same time has a stylish and modern look. Royal Enfield has recently been testing the ‘big brother’ of the classic 350 bike. Now the company has also registered its name for trademark.
Yes, Royal Enfield has trademarked the name ‘Classic 650 Twin’ for its new classic bike model with a 650cc engine. There are currently four bikes on sale in Royal Enfield’s 650cc lineup. Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. If launched in India, the Classic 650 Twin will join the lineup as the fifth model.
It looks like the 650 will not differ much from the classic 350 in terms of design changes. The biggest strength of the Classic 350 is its design. So, we can expect only minor design changes on the 650 for its bigger bike. While the 350 features a single exhaust muffler, the 650 model features exhaust mufflers on both sides. Like other 650cc bikes, it is expected to get LED headlamp setup.
Also, the main frame of the Classic 650cc is expected to be used on the Shots and Super Meteor instead of the Classic 350. Mechanically, Royal Enfield will use the same 648cc twin-cylinder engine found in other 650cc bikes in the Classic 650 Twin model. This engine is capable of producing 47hp of power and 52Nm of torque.
As Royal Enfield is said to be planning to launch five new bikes in the current financial year, the Classic 650 Twin is expected to be one of them. While the Interceptor and Super Meteor models are currently priced between Rs 3.30 lakh and Rs 3.70 lakh, the new Classic 650 Twin is expected to be launched at a slightly lower price. It remains to be seen what Royal Enfield does.
