A weekly market is held in Sivagangai on Wednesdays. In this case, complaints have been received by the Food Safety Department officials that peas are being sold with green dye in today’s market. Based on this, Sivaganga Food Safety Officer Saravanakumar led a surprise inspection of the weekly vegetable market by the municipal employees.

At that time, when the green peas that were for sale were put in water and tested, a green color was revealed. Subsequently, they confiscated them and imposed a fine of 1000 rupees on three persons including Premalatha, Agullakshmi and Manikandan. Also, around 40 kg of peas were seized from them. Also, a warning was issued to the traders who sold these. Officials warned that legal action would be taken if such a crime was detected again.
