Actor Simbu last acted in Batu Thala movie. The film was well received by the fans and he committed to act in his 48th film next. 
This film is directed by Desinghu Periyasamy, the director of Dulquer Salmaan’s Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithal. It is being produced by Rajkaman Films International. Actor Simbu will play dual roles in this film. Also tentatively titled as STR48, this film is going to be a period film with a huge budget.
The announcement regarding this film has already been released and has created anticipation. But the shooting of the film has not started. Currently, the pre-production work of this film is said to be going on. 
Meanwhile, actor Simbu is set to play the lead role in Thak Life. So many reports are spreading on social media that STR48 movie has been abandoned. In this case, there is a new update that the shooting of this film will start in the 2nd week of June. However, an announcement regarding this is expected to be made soon.
