Samaysingh Meena, who was suspended as Superintendent of Police of Kallakurichi District, has been given a new assignment in Chennai Police.
Forgery incident:
On 18th June in Karunakulam village of Kallakurichi district of Tamilnadu, more than 300 people drank kulthanaya and more than 200 people were admitted to various hospitals due to physical ailments like headache, vomiting and fainting.
Death toll that shook Tamil Nadu:
This incident created a sensation all over Tamil Nadu and there continued to be many casualties on the way to hospitals and in various hospitals.
In this situation, till last July 10th, the number of people who died due to drinking liquor has increased to 66. It is also noted that various people who were admitted to the hospital suffered eye damage.
Suspended SP Samaisingh Meena:
It is to be noted that the District Superintendent of Police, District Collector and various police officers were dismissed and transferred for failing to stop the sale of illegal liquor in Kallakurichi while these casualties had caused a stir in Tamil Nadu politics.
Subsequently, a special commission was appointed to investigate the incident and more than 19 people were arrested and subjected to intensive investigation for the crime of distilling and selling counterfeit liquor.
New assignment for SP Samaisingh Meena:
Samaysingh Meena, who was the District Collector of Kallakurichi, was suspended by the Tamil Nadu government on July 19 for failing to stop the sale of liquor in Kallakurichi.
The Tamil Nadu Police continued to conduct intensive surveillance in Kallakurichi and destroyed the fake fingers brewed in Kalvarayan Hill and continued to conduct intensive raids.
Appointment as Commissioner of Traffic Police, Tambaram:
Meanwhile SP Samaisingh Meena, who is currently suspended, has been given a new assignment. His suspension has been revoked and he is now posted as Traffic Police Commissioner, Tambaram.
