Sr. to the dinosaur.. the salamander that waits and kills; Age 280 million years!

4 million years before the dinosaurs appeared on Earth, a creature capable of hunting lived in the swamp forests.

Salamander type creature

This creature is about 2 meters long. The creature’s skull alone was about half a meter long. The researchers have named the organism Keysia gennae.

It has also been revealed that this creature belongs to the salamander type. A salamander is a lizard-like creature. It can live in water and land.

Currently these creatures do not exist in the world. Fossils of these creatures were discovered in Namibia in 2015.

Claudia Marsicano at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, shared various information about this creature.

Fossils of a 280 million year old salamander species have been discovered

280 million years..

Speaking about this, Claudia Marsicano said, “It probably hunted like a crocodile, waiting for prey to pass by.” He also said, “It was an aquatic animal with a very long body, which swam like an eel, with very few legs, and moved on dry land.”

This discovery reframes our understanding of early tetrapod distribution. It is noteworthy that most tetrapod fossils have been found in the Northern Hemisphere, which had a tropical climate centered around the equator 280 million years ago.
