Delhi : All coach seats in Indian Railways are fully adult-sized. The Indian Railways has now come up with a new initiative to provide sleeping facilities for mothers carrying babies in trains.
In this regard, in the parliamentary session held today, BJP MP Sumar Singh Solanki raised a question about providing bed facilities for mothers to travel on Indian Railways. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav replied.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Indian Railways has introduced two baby berths in the Lucknow Express train on a trial basis to make it easier for mothers traveling with children.
Also, train no. 12229/30 Lucknow Express has added two baby berths with two lower berths in one compartment and this initiative has received appreciation from the passengers. However, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the ban on luggage under the seat and difficulty in immobilizing the passenger’s knees are the identified drawbacks of this baby berth seat facility.
