Maharashtra: Achiruvan’s parents filed a complaint last Thursday that a 9-year-old boy who was recently admitted for leg surgery at a sub-district hospital in Maharashtra’s Thane district was wrongly circumcised.
Speaking in this regard, the boy’s mother said, “My son is studying in the fourth standard in a civil school in Shahapur. In the last week of May this year, my son went to school and came back with a leg injury.
When my son was questioned it was revealed that he and his classmates had accidentally hit his left leg with a stone while playing. So we took my son to the sub-district hospital.
Doctors treated my son there. After coming home, pus started oozing from the wound. So, we took him back to the hospital where the doctor who treated him suggested surgery as the wound was deep.
Due to this, on June 15th, after admitting the boy to the hospital, the doctors decided to operate on June 17th. After that on the announced day my son underwent surgery and was brought out of the operation theatre.
It was only then that I learned that they had changed the leg surgery and performed a circumcision. When I asked the doctors about this, they again immediately took my son in and operated on the leg properly.
When the doctors were further asked about this, the doctors said that they were indifferently confused because there were other children of the same age.
Also, because your son also has an infection in the penis, they are dealing with this circumcision surgery without admitting any mistake.
And the police are investigating in the name of filing a complaint with the police department in this regard. Further, an investigation has been initiated under the supervision of Dr. Kailas Pawar, Civil Surgeon, Thane Civil Hospital. This incident shows the negligence of the medical sector and has caused a bit of panic.
