The government should come forward to provide at least interim relief to the plantation workers

Member of Parliament Vadivel Suresh said in the House that the government should take measures to provide at least interim relief to the plantation workers who are being cheated in the matter of salary.

He said this while addressing the adjournment debate in the Parliament yesterday (06) regarding the problematic situation caused by the brackish water dam constructed near the Matara Nilwala Ganga.

He continued to address,

‘The people affected by landslides in the hills are still without solutions. Many families have been affected by landslides in many places including Poonakala, Pasara, Madulseemai. Despite the government’s orders, the government officials are acting in an uneven manner.

At the same time, people are waiting like parrots for the salary issue. In this situation, the salary fixing council will be discussed again.

Paying wages commensurate with the cost of living in the country. The government should take steps to provide at least temporary relief to our society, which has been cheated by many political leaders.

I have supported the government’s budget on behalf of the hill people. Voting thus, I am promoting various projects in Badulai district at the cost of several crores of rupees. Also, steps have been taken to advance the projects in Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.
