After Pakistan’s series of nuclear tests in 1998, Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Lahore in 1999 and signed an accord with then Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “On May 28, 1998, Pakistan conducted five nuclear tests.

After that, Vajpayee came here and made an agreement with us… but we violated that agreement… that is our fault,” former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said while speaking at a party meeting.

Nawaz Sharif has been re-elected as the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) General Committee after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Nawaz, who served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for 3 times, had to step down due to involvement in the Panama Papers case.

He fled the country due to corruption allegations and was living in London. He returned to his native Pakistan in October 2023. In that way, after about 6 years, he has again accepted the responsibility of the party and is working.

Efforts were made to strengthen relations between India and Pakistan during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s regime. In this line he went to Lahore and signed an agreement with Pakistan.
The Prime Ministers of both (India and Pakistan) signed the Lahore Declaration regarding peace and stability between the two countries. However, after a few months, he violated this agreement and launched a secret attack on Kargil and started a war. Nawaz Sharif had said that the then US President gave him 5 billion dollars during the nuclear test.

“One person (former prime minister) Imran Khan would have accepted Clinton’s offer if he were in my place,” Nawaz said on the occasion of 26 years since Pakistan’s first nuclear test.

Also, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan has explained how the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Saqib Nisar removed him from his post in the lying case in 2017. He said that all the cases against him were false but those against former Prime Minister Imran were real.

Nawaz publicly accused former ISI chief General Zaheerul Islam of conspiring to overthrow his government and install Imran Khan as prime minister in 2017. On this occasion, he challenged Imran Khan to deny that he was recruited by the ISI.

After about 25 years, Pakistan is the cause of the Kargil war, Enas said that the former Prime Minister of the country Nawaz has caused controversy. Ministers of that country have been praising India for the past few weeks. In this context, the former prime minister’s talk about India and the Kargil war is attracting attention.
