The shopkeepers in Courtalam staged a complete shutdown

On behalf of the traders’ association in Courtalam, today they are engaged in a complete shop closure protest.

Tenkasi crime scene
Courtalam is located in the Western Ghats region of Tenkasi district. There are many waterfalls here like Main Waterfall, Old Courtalam, Aindaruvi, Tiger Waterfall, Small Waterfall, Senbagadevi Waterfall which is not allowed to bathe, Thenaruvi.

Popular tourist destination
These Koortal waterfalls are a popular tourist attraction. People from different parts of the world come to bathe in the water of this waterfall.

Seasonal periods
June, July and August are the seasonal months here. Similarly the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple season is two months long.

Courtalanathar temple
There are more than 500 shops for the needs of the tourists who come here on behalf of the Kurdalanathar temple and the municipal administration.

Shops
A large number of people living in Courtalam have been relying on these shops for generations. These shops are their livelihood.

Shops should be vacated
In this context, full rent for the shops should be paid from the Courtalanath temple administration. Shops have been told to vacate.

Courtalam Traders Association shop closure
Due to this, their livelihood is being affected, and since they have been living here for a long time, the government should take action to take into consideration their livelihood.

Shopkeepers protest in Courtalam
More than 500 shops, including restaurants, are closed. Tourists who came to Courtalam have suffered a lot due to this shop closure event. They also suffered from not being able to buy food. Due to the weekend and holiday season, the number of tourists has increased.
