The Supreme Court refused to quash the cases against H. Raja! – The Supreme Court has advised political leaders to express their views carefully.
Senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader H. Raja posted controversial comments about women on his Twitter page in 2018. In this regard, a case was registered against H. Raja in many areas including Erode, Vedasandur, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, a case has been registered in connection with a tweet about breaking Periyar’s idol. Meanwhile, when H. Raja approached the Madras High Court to quash 11 cases registered against him, the Madras High Court refused to quash the cases in August last year.
Following this, H. Raja approached the Supreme Court. The case came up for hearing today in a bench comprising Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Prashant Kumar Misra. The Supreme Court judges, who refused to quash the cases against H.Raja, expressed concern over the decreasing quality of speeches in politics. The judges also opined that political leaders should be more careful about their opinions.
