Chennai: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that 4 districts of Tamil Nadu will experience very heavy rains and 21 districts will experience heavy rains today.
An atmospheric mantle circulation prevails over South Kerala and adjoining areas. Due to this, today (22.05.2024) heavy rain is likely to occur in 4 districts namely Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur and Theni, said the Meteorological Department. An orange alert has also been issued for this.
Also, 21 districts of Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Namakkal received heavy rain.
Tomorrow (May 23) it is predicted that 5 districts namely Theni, Thenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari will receive very heavy rain.

The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. Few parts of the city are likely to receive light rain. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 35-36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 27-28 degrees Celsius.
