Villupuram District Vikravandi Legislative Assembly Member Pugahendi passed away on April 6 due to ill health. Following his death, the Election Commission has announced that the by-election will be held on July 10.
The filing of nominations for the election started on the 14th and ended on the 21st. The nominations of 29 people were accepted. The votes will be counted and the results will be announced on the 13th.
In the Vikravandi by-election, DMK’s Anniyur Siva, BJP alliance’s Anbumani from BAMAK and Naam Tamil Party’s Abhinaya have entered the field as candidates.
And the AIADMK has ignored this election by missing the field. Edappadi Palaniswami had said in a statement that he would boycott the by-elections saying that the DMK would act anarchically with money and force.
In this situation, journalist Shiv Priyan has shared some important information on oneindias Plus YouTube regarding the Vikravandi by-election. He said: By-elections in Tamil Nadu are being conducted in a dishonest manner. Winning a by-election is a big deal when the ruling party has total influence over a constituency.
This applies not only to DMK but also to AIADMK. In the 2019 Vikravandi by-election, AIADMK, which was then the ruling party, won. Due to this, both the DMK and AIADMK parties are not ready to say that the by-elections will not be held fairly. People know how by-elections are going in Tamil Nadu. Cash flows are high.
Vikravandi by-election is crucial for DMK. If there is any slippage in this, the opposition parties will easily accuse the people of Tamil Nadu that they did not like the DMK and that the people of Tamil Nadu voted for the DMK in the Lok Sabha elections just because the Congress should win at the centre.
Therefore, the DMK is forced to prove that they always have the influence of the people through the upcoming Vikravandi by-election. And with the parliamentary election, the vote bank and percentage of two big parties like DMK and AIADMK cannot be calculated.
Similarly, it remains to be seen whether BAM has a chance to win this election. Although the Vanniyar community votes were high in Dharmapuri and Villupuram constituencies, Bamakha could not win this Lok Sabha election.
Parties in alliance with BJP will get the symbol they ask for. But the Vishika and Nathaka parties with vote bank will struggle till the end to get their symbol.
The percentage of votes for the Tamil party will be increasing. He said that since the AIADMK did not contest in this election, the party’s votes are likely to split with the Naam Tamilar Party, BMC.
