Handover of Nallur temple flagstone to the chief priests

The annual Makotsava festival of the historic Nallur Kandaswamy Temple will begin tomorrow (09) with the flag hoisting ceremony, and today (08) the ceremonial hoisting of the flag took place.

Jaffna. Following the special puja services held at the Vel Math Murugan Temple near Chattanathar Shiva Temple at 9 am, the media was taken from there in a small chariot to Kodicheela and reached Nallur Kandaswamy Temple at 10.00 am.

There, the outside of the temple was strolled and pujas were performed at an auspicious time and Kodicheela was handed over to the chief priests of the Nallur temple.

The Makotsava festival of Nallur Kandaswamy Temple will be held for 25 consecutive days, which will begin tomorrow at 10.00 am with flag hoisting.

It is a traditional custom that the Sengundar Paramparai will ceremoniously hand over the flag for the Nallur temple flag hoisting to the temple.

It is worth noting that Senkuntha family members of Nallur have been providing flagpoles for hoisting the flag every year.
